Personal Statement
My name is Cade Knisely. I am a 2021 student/athlete from Bellbrook OH. I am currently a junior at Bellbrook HS. I currently stand at 5’10” and weigh 170 lbs. I currently have a 3.0 GPA despite being dyslexic. My primary position is middle infield while also playing outfield. I hit and throw right handed.
I have grown up around the game of baseball since a very young age. My faith and my family are very important to me. Both my parents instilled in me at an early age the value of hard work, dedication, and discipline. They’ve taught me to have strong character and lead by example. My father is a former division 1 athlete for both baseball and football. He has taught me a lot about competing at a high level and having the right mindset to be successful. My family has a great passion for sports and has sacrificed a great deal to fuel my love for the game.
I have enjoyed competing at many different sports throughout my life but baseball has become my first love. I was born prematurely at 31 weeks at just 2 pounds and have always been a fighter. I was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 8. Although this has been very challenging for me in life, and as a student, it has taught me how to persevere, overcome obstacles, and find ways to be the best version of me, no matter what. As a student I have learned to find other resources to allow me to be successful in school. This would include tutoring, working closely with my academic counselor, etc. I have also found that this has helped me to be successful on the baseball field. As an athlete I am always looking to find additional resources to develop and gain an edge on the field. This includes working on strength, speed, and any fundamentals with baseball. Since baseball is a very difficult game mentally, being dyslexic has really helped prepare me to tackle that difficulty with a different perspective. I have found that I have developed an innate ability to always look forward to the next pitch, next play, or the next game and not dwell, to always compete. This allows me to compete on a high level.
I believe college coaches are always looking for the best and most disciplined individuals to lead their programs to new heights and I know my character, leadership, and discipline can go along way to achieving these goals. I believe my skill, character, and heart, will make a valuable asset to a college program.
I am seeking a college environment in which I can excel both academically and athletically. A place that prepares me for the next phase of my life. My goal would be to explore a business management major that will position me well for my future after college. As an athlete, I plan to be a dynamic player and positive influence on the team. I will conduct myself in a first-class manner both on and off the field, always knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my family, my team, my coaches, and the school I attend.
It would be a blessing to pursue a college education while playing the game I love. Secondly, it would be an honor to represent a college and or university while competing at the highest level and becoming the best version of myself.
