My name is Angel Abreu and I am a senior attending Mandarin Highschool, Jacksonville, Florida. I am 17 years old, 5'7 third-basemen and catcher that has played travel baseball for the past 7 years. I’ve played in an organization called the Warhawks Baseball Club, Hilliard Colts Elite, and Jax Elite. I was selected as the All-star player in the Nationals tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the year 2018. I played in the Nationals All-Star game, GMB all-star game, and the International Power Showcase in the Marlins Park in Miami, Florida also in 2018. In 2016 my team and I got second place in the Grand Slam World Series in Panama City Beach, Florida. In 2019 we won the Beast Of The East tournament in Wheeling, West Virginia. In that tournament, I won two Plaques for hitting two home runs. One of those home runs was to tie the game in the 6th and we came back and won it with a walk-off hit with bases loaded. In 2020 I received honorable mention during PBR Ohio showcase, and won the USSSA state championship.
I grew up with a passion for baseball. I started playing when I was 2 and I have not stopped playing and I won't until I achieve my goal of playing in the Major Leagues. People may say I have natural talents, that have been said to me many times, but that's because people do not know the amount of work I have put in since I was a little boy. I used to throw a lacrosse ball against a brick wall and spend every day after school doing that and that's how I was entertained. That is one of the ways that I made my hand-eye coordination better. I made my contact better by hitting beans with a broomstick. I would have my dad pitch me beans or corn and that would be my batting practice at home. I was so passionate that I found different ways of getting better and then ended up getting me where I am today.
Over the years I’ve done a lot of different trainings: personal trainers in the US and DR, hitting coaches, pitching coaches, even my own team coaches have trained me hard.
