Eric Efland '21 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coaches my name is Eric Efland. I am a catcher, pitcher and third baseman. I pride myself on my toughness, leadership, resilience and work ethic. On the diamond I pride myself on excellent defensive catching. I take the pressure off of my pitchers by blocking everything, stealing strikes, throwing runners out, and becoming a game manager/captain on the field. I have earned the respect of my fellow teammates by always keeping a level head, giving positive reinforcement no matter the circumstance and challenging them when needed. I am a confident hitter that trusts in his abilities as well as the coaches plan. I am generally a line drive hitter that focuses on a low strikeout rate and grinds every at bat. Finally, I am resilient. This year I became friends with a senior catcher who transferred to our school. We competed everyday on the diamond and encouraged each other to be better baseball players. Eventually, I beat him out through countless hours in the weight room and in the cages. All of this work has allowed me to add 10 pounds of muscle and took half a second off my 60 yard time. If you want a catcher that grinds every day, is a leader on and off the field and can handle your pitching staff with excellent defensive skills, then I am your guy.
