Personal Statement

I had the honor and privilege of being able to play varsity baseball with my high school starting as a freshman as the first baseman, and my sophomore year. Slated to be the starting catcher going into my Junior year. Being able to play up with the upper classmen and being able to learn from older athletes has helped my baseball knowledge, and has pushed me harder to perform at my best.

Receiving second team all conference as a freshman for first base was a very humbling experience as well as being recognized by my coaches that I was willing to follow directions to play any position needed without complaining and would do it well.

I enjoy the game of baseball, being able to play the sport just simply because I love the game. I have been recognized by coaches and other athletes for encouraging and helping others that may be struggling at a point in the game. Knowing that we all go through slumps in baseball, whether it is a hitting slump, or just not being as sharp and crisp as we may want; this pushes me to know that I am not ever finished learning about the game and that I can always learn more and push myself harder.

I believe and was taught that by being humble and not hurting my character will carry me further than anything. I do believe that I have good character and leadership skills that I have been able to utilize in my sports career. I played football for the first time as a sophomore and my coach told me that my hard work and consistency and my attitude is what put me in a starting position. I attribute much of my character traits, work habits, being taught that I can achieve anything if I put my mind to it is highly influenced by my parents, my varsity coaches and my pastor and youth pastor at my church. These are some of the most influential people in my life that I believe have helped mold me into the person and athlete that I am today.

I know I can and will be a valuable asset to any coaching staff and baseball program. I look forward to being able to use my skills, abilities, and knowledge to play at the next level.
