Tommy Whitely '17 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6'3", 210 pounds right-handed, senior pitcher from Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, Ohio. I am a 3 year varsity letterman and starter since my freshman year. I topped out with a fastball of 87 mph at the end of my sophomore season. I also throw a changeup along with a curveball. . I have dedicated myself to my academics and have a 4.1 GPA along with being a member of the National Honor Society. I was raised in an environment where my parents instilled a hard work ethic, reflect a positive attitude and always give 100%. I grew the most as an athlete and person when I had to overcome having Tommy John surgery Feb 2016 prior to my junior year. Overcoming this injury taught me a lot about myself and the experience allowed me to grow as a person and as an athlete. I am fully recovered and ready to make an impact my senior season.

My participation in sports has taught me the values of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and discipline. I have taken leadership roles in the organizations and teams I have been involved in and have been selected captain of my team this season.

I want to attend a college where I can be challenged academically, obtain my degree along with pursuing my goal of playing baseball at collegiate level. I am interested in studying either Accounting or Supply Chain Management and possibly a double major in Sports Management. I believe I have the talent, character, work ethic and leadership skills to be successful academically at your institution but also have an immediate impact on your program.
