Personal Statement
At the start of my Freshman year of high school, our high school baseball team was coming off of a state championship win and a final four appearance. A very good group of Seniors had just graduated, leaving only 4 players from the state championship team remaining. We heard from a lot of people, including people in our own district, that we lost too many people and had no chance to do anything great the next baseball season. I learned more in this season than any other. Watching the way the four remaining guys attacked the game and didn't care what people said. The effort they gave in games, practices and school taught me so much about the type of player I wanted to be on and off the field.
Despite what people said, those four carried us deep in to the playoffs. Getting to watch that as a Freshman taught me how to attack the game starting with the proper mindset. Having such good leaders inspires me to be the best leader I can be and to teach the same thing I was taught to the new group of players coming in. They taught me how to compete both on the field and just as importantly, in the classroom.
