Kodey Shoemaker '18 Recruiting Profile

I have always had a love for the game of baseball. It is something I would love to advance to the next level at. I grew up around Baseball by watching & playing it with friends and family. I was not on a team until my 7th grade year, so the passion for the game still burns very strong within me. I still have a lot of room to improve and a lot to learn about the game but I know if I get within the right program with the right guidance then the sky is the limit. Whatever I do, I do it with the best of my abilities. I umpired little league baseball in the summer of 2016. It was an amazing learning experience and I had a great time doing it. It let me see the game through an Umpires point of view and how they feel when they oversee the game. For that, I respect every umpire that I see. Even if I don't agree with a call made by them, I never back talk or argue with them. I just continue to play the game. You can only control so much in life and in the game of baseball, you must deal with it and move on.  After I umpired during the summer of 2016, I was hired on 8/3/16 as a Load-out at a local home and ranch store called Atwoods. My job is to load merchandise for the customers (I.e. Fence, Horse and Cattle feed, farm equipment). It’s a very physical job and I get to interact with customers every day which has developed my people skills, this job has also helped me to get a little stronger. I am very blessed with the opportunities that I have been given. It would mean so much to me to get a college education and play baseball at the next level.
