My name is Bryce Oliver and I am a Freshman at Canby High School. Canby is in the 3-Rivers League. This year I played Football, Wrestling and Baseball. I have always loved Baseball, but I also have a passion for Football. In Football, I am a Running Back and a Linebacker. In Baseball, I am a Catcher, a Right Handed Pitcher and Short Stop.
I enjoy being a utility player, learning to adapt in each of the positions I am playing. Each requires me to utilize a different set of skills both physically and mentally. I like to be the player who can react in a clutch situation, the player teammates and coaches can rely on when the game is on the line.
Through sports, I have learned to not give up and to also face failure head on learning to adapt and better myself. Being on the field has also taught me that while I can not control the outcome of the game, I can control my attitude and my effort. I have been on the Federal level baseball team for several years, and I enjoy helping the younger kids. I felt it was also important to be a great role model to them on and off the field by always having a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
The one thing I think makes me unique, is that my parents have always been super involved, helping me practice and being at all my games. From a young age, one of the things they have always made sure I understood was that when you compete, you will sometimes fail. When you fail, it's what you learn that sets you apart. When you work on your weaknesses, and focus on bettering yourself you elevate your play.
Even though I am only a Freshman, I am working towards fulfilling my dream of playing college ball and becoming a Firefighter.
