Personal Statement
My dad was a great baseball player and loves the game of baseball. As soon as I could play, I loved it too. For the majority of my baseball career my dad has been my coach. I started out playing pitcher, 1st base and 3rd base. Two years ago I was put in the catcher position due to our high school team's need. I consider myself a utility player because I have been flexible based on what is needed. I enjoy baseball not only because of the physical and mental aspects of the game, but because of the team comradery, friendships and baseball "families" of which I have been lucky enough to be a part. I hope to continue playing baseball for as long as I possibly can.
Having my dad as my coach has brought both benefits and challenges to the game. I feel that I have a respect for my coaches that is different than my teammates because of the expectations that have been put on me. I also feel like I am a better leader because I am looked to as the "example". I have developed a competitive nature, a baseball mentality and strengths as a team member that I feel would make me an asset to any team that would be interested in me. I would love to be able to attend college to focus on a business degree while also playing baseball. My love of sports helps to keep me focused in the classroom as the "rule" in our family has been to meet at least a 3.0 gpa or we are not allowed to play sports until our grades improve. I would enjoy discussing my interests, athletic accolades and educational goals with any college programs that may be interested.
