Personal Statement

My name is Jake Mummert and I am a Junior at McDowell Senior High School in Erie, Pennsylvania. I throw and hit right handed. My primary position is pitcher and secondary position is third base. I currently weigh 160 pounds and my height is 6’4”. My 60 yard dash was timed at 6.9 seconds and the top velocity of my fastball is 76 mph. I am consistently working to improve those numbers. Travel baseball has been a part of my life since I was 7. Academically speaking, I have a 4.0 gpa and a variety of academic achievements.

I am open to schools that have majors in Photography or Sports Management and Entertainment. As far as the level of college baseball I would like to play, I am most interested in D1, D2, and D3 schools. The east, midwest, and southern US would be the best location for me and a college in just about any setting would be fine. I would like to stay on the eastern half of the country because it’s still somewhat close to home, as to I am a family person and having them around during this process would mean everything to me.

I’m excited to visit colleges that are strong academically and have a well-rounded experience with the programs that are necessary for my path. It is important to me that the school can help me achieve my dream of continuing to play baseball for years to come in college and beyond.

For me, baseball has been part of my life for 13 years and I would love to continue adding more years to that experience. Throughout each and every season, baseball has developed in me amazing qualities both as a leader and teammate. These qualities would make me a great assest to your team. Baseball is a major part of who I am today and I definitely wouldn’t be me without it.

Along with most players across the country, my high school does have a baseball team and it is fairly competitive. Our coach has us condition during the entire offseason, and has us play on the American Legion Baseball teams during the summers. There are also fall ball teams to play with during the months of September and early October.

With all these teams available to participate in, I am determined to play with each one and have a good role on the team. I try my hardest to be the best I can be for my teammates, and myself. This determination gives me the desire to improve as a player both on and off the field and to discover different ways to help my team succeed. From the many years I’ve played baseball I know that I learn best by watching and replicating what was done. Knowing this about myself helps me both athletically and academically.

I feel that I would bring great character, dedication and positivity to your team. I have a laid back personality, but am not afraid to go out and get my goals. I also can listen to and follow directions. I have an optimistic mind and work well with my coaches and teammates. All these things would make me an exceptional addition to your team.
