Personal Statement
My name is Shane Lawler. I first began playing baseball when I was just 4 years old hitting the ball off the tee. As my youth baseball career progressed, I went from Little League to numerous different travel teams, where I became one of the best players on any given team whether I was at the plate, in the field, or on the mound. As I began playing high school baseball, I soon found that I was best on the mound as a pitcher for my team. As a sophomore, I work myself into a key role in the pitching rotation often coming in out of the bullpen but also starting in non-league games. As a junior this year, I hope to be the number one starter in the rotation as well as making first-team all-league. As a player on your team, I will be the player who is always finding new ways to improve my craft. Whether it is gaining extra velocity on my fastball or working on the drop of my curveball, I am always working to better my game. I am the type of person and player who carries a humble and level-headed frame of mind, and who leads his fellow teammates by example on the mound. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement.
