Personal Statement
Around 9 years old, baseball became my favorite sport to play. Being able get on the base and steal them, was the most exciting thing as a 9-year-old kid. As my time as a baseball player went on, I’ve learned a few things about the game as well as myself. For example, baseball is a game that requires mental strength and the ability to overcome in-game failures. Also, that I must be dedicated, optimistic, and can receive constructive feedback on and off the field. Overcoming challenges is a staple in both life and the game of baseball. I was usually the smallest kid on the team which meant being overlooked. Being overlooked gave me the motivation to always play at my highest potential.
Because sports are my silver lining in life, the dedication, optimism, and focus in them have trickled over to my academics. Being a student athlete, my biggest goal for school was and is to receive and maintain a high GPA, have the highest batting average, and steal the most bases. Not only did I graduate middle school with high honors, I am also an honor roll student as I continue my journey in high school. My second year as a starter for the varsity baseball team I was able achieve my goal for the highest batting average, RBIs and steals on my team. I didn’t have the opportunity to improve my junior year goals because of the unfortunate pandemic, but my overall goal is to be in consideration of being recruited by various colleges.
I want to attend a college that offers a balance between academics and sports. A college that allows me to exert my efforts in the classroom and on the field. I ultimately want to find the school that satisfies my major interest and that pushes my baseball skills to the highest level possible. Overall, I want to keep my parents smiling because they spent their days and nights keeping me from crying during my life journey.
