Personal Statement
As long as I can remember, I have consistently set high personal performance goals, both in the classroom and on the athletic field. With hard work and determination, I was fortunate to be selected as a starting player for my varsity baseball team during my freshman season. Although I am primarily a catcher, I believe I have the versatility to play competitively at all positions. Over the summer months, I enjoy playing travel baseball as part of the 18U team and continue to enjoy a very successful season. I appreciate the opportunity to face strong competition in my on-going development as a player. In addition, I believe that I am an excellent teammate, exhibiting a positive attitude and welcoming constructive feedback. Whether in the midst of a winning season or facing adversity, I am committed to the success of the team and always strive to give my best effort.
Academically, I favor math and sciences but am successful in all subjects. I have been the recipient of several awards for high scholastic achievement as I am presently in the top 5% of my class. I am currently taking several honors and advanced placement courses and am enrolled in our district's gifted program. I am active in student government and am recognized as a leader in my class. I apply the same discipline to my studies as I do my athletics and look forward to attending a college with competitive academics. Although I have not committed to a specific major, I anticipate pursuing science or engineering.
I am confident that I have the qualities to be a successful baseball player and college athlete. I want to play college baseball because of my passion for the sport and hunger for competition. I am intelligent, hard-working, and committed to personal improvement. I look forward to a successful future in baseball and in my future studies.
