Joshua Nichols '13 Recruiting Profile

My name is Josh Nichols and I am going into my senior year at Sharon High School in Sharon, Pennsylvania. My junior year I was the starting catcher for my highschool baseball team. I ended the season with a .405 average which, according to MAX PREPS website, was in the top 5 catchers in AA baseball in the state. I was also voted "Defensive Player of the Year" for my team and selected 2nd team catcher for PIAA region 2. During my freshman and sophomore seasons, I was often used as a pinch runner due to my speed and ability to get a good lead. My quickness helped me to bunt for several base hits. I have split time on my club team between catching and outfield and believe I also have the potential to be an excellent outfielder. I recently ended the summer season with my club team, Class B in Struther, OH and batted just over .350. I also made several outstanding plays in left field and threw out a runner at home to secure our first win. I was also the captain of my highschool soccer team for my junior and senior year. I play forward or striker. I feel I am a leader and can help lead a baseball game from behind the plate. I believe I have great character and am a fun person to be around. Academically, I believe I am doing very well. My grade point average at the end of my junior year was 94.2% and I am ranked 19th in my class. Next year, as a senior, I will be participating in the dual enrollment program at Penn State Shenango. I am very determined to play college baseball and will do whatever it takes to succeed.
