As I enter my senior year, I continue to strive to get better every day academically, athletically, and personally. I have been a starter since my Freshman year and the lessons that I learned of having to prove that I belong on the field, carry over to how I play today. We were a young team then and as difficult as those years were, we played against good competition early. The experience of knowing that I had to work every game to keep my position forced me to push harder each day to elevate myself above the rest of the crowd. I am a mental student of the game and pride myself on having great situational awareness.
This experience ingrained in me the importance of having a strong work ethic, being able to motivate myself, and having the desire to want to be on the field more than anything else. In looking for colleges, it is important to me to be able to find a school that reflects my academic standards as well as my athletic standards. Being at the top of my class academically proves that I will not have trouble in maintaining eligibility and will always be ready to play. I believe I will be an asset to any program that expresses interest. As such, I want to be viewed on any team as a role model, someone who will be a resource for both athletic and academic purposes.
This year has presented challenges with covid-19. I continued to work hard and get stronger. I took every opportunity to gain speed, throw and hit harder. I worked at home and when the gyms opened, went 3 to 4 days a week. I am currently playing on 2 travel teams, attending camps and showcases to prepare me for the next step in college. I am a coachable player and take advantage of every opportunity to learn.
