Personal Statement

My name is Efrain A. Santiago. Im a catcher from de Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy HS, class 2017. I'm a straight A student. I like challenges either academically or in baseball. I'm always up for a challenge. I'm a good candidate for a team because I'm always ready to play hard no matter the situation. I'm a great teammate, I always cheer up others, no matter the situation. Also I'm a good candidate because I know how to control a game, I know very good my pitchers, and make them feel comfortable when I'm behind the plate. Also I have good contact with the ball and I can hit the ball hard and bring some power to the plate! I have the skill to have good grades and play ball at the same time. I do good at both and I am working really hard to maintain my grades and to improve my baseball skills. I will love to study in a competent school with good Academics and a good sports program. I would like to get a college degree and work hard for my future.

  • According to Perfect Game: (Jun/2016) Efrain Santiago is a 2017 C/ with a 5-9 174 lb. frame from Moca, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Medium build with a strong, filled out frame and good strength throughout. Posted a 7.58 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, developing catch and throw skills with developing arm strength and a workout pop time of 1.92. At the plate, started open with a high hand set, high back elbow and a toe tap timing mechanism. Showed some bat speed at the plate and flashed barrel feel with a swing plane through the zone. Outstanding student. Had a Perfect Game grade of 8.

  • 11/01/2015 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Efrain is a talented backstop who has a strong lower 1/2. Behind the dish, this athletic catcher sits in well with good flexion and sway. He is quick laterally and centers pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Transfer is smooth as his release is quick putting throws on the bag. Offensively, Efrain stands in well with centered balanced and fluid rhythm to load. Swing is level as he connects and hits the ball where it's pitched - utilizing the whole field. Efrain has a solid all-around skill-set and should find success in this his junior year.

At the plate, used a slightly open stance and leg lift trigger. Utilized a patient approach and line drive plane with good lower half incorporation. Loose swing that generates extension with present gap power. Excellent Student.  PG Grade 8.0
