Personal Statement
There have been many things that have contributed to me becoming the person that I have become today. My parents are very supportive and loving. I also have great friends that only want the best for me. I’d say that I became interested in the game of baseball when I was a young boy in the living room watching the Atlanta Braves with my Dad. We’d celebrate and cry together watching them play. I watched great players like Chipper Jones and Martin Prado and that inspired me to be like them one day. I can remember just being amazed by those guys. Baseball itself has changed me in many different ways. It’s a very humbling sport. I’ve learned that success isn’t always necessarily hitting a home run or getting a base hit. Success to me is doing whatever it takes to help my team win. I also learned how to compete. Things aren’t always easy, sometimes you have to just find a way to grind through adversity. I definitely want to graduate from high school and college. I want to be the first member of my family to do so. When I get out of college I want to be a coach or an engineer. I haven’t had to make it through any physical obstacles to get where I am today. I’d say that I have had to get through more mental adversities than anything else. I used to doubt myself and always worry about what somebody else thought of me. Now I’ve learned to stay true to myself. I would definitely characterize myself as a leader. I feel that is my one unique skill. I can get a group of boys fired up to achieve one goal. It’s my dream to play college baseball. I know whoever is reading this has no idea who I am but I can assure you that if you just give me a chance I will not disappoint you. Thanks, McKenny Goodale.
