Personal Statement
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Hello - My name is JD (Joseph David) Prorok. I am currently a sophomore at Chester Area High School in
Chester SD. My parents are Renee and Ken Prorok and I have two older sisters and two nieces.
I am currently a 6’3”, 230-pound right-handed pitcher and third baseman. I play for the Sioux Falls
Cyclones where I am traditionally our clean-up hitter. This past season I hit .472 while posting a 1.863
ERA in 41.1 innings of work. I really enjoy being part of the Cyclones organization and enjoy working
with our trainers. This season we had two members of our organization sign with major D-1 programs
(Notre Dame & Tennessee).
My father was a college coach so I have been around the game since I was born. I love pitching and
having “control” of the game. I love the big moment and really enjoy being the guy that my teammates
can count on on a daily basis.
I also compete in Basketball and Track for my High School. This past year as an 8 th grader, I was able to
compete on the varsity level as a “thrower” on our shot-put team. Setting personal bests in four
consecutive high school meets and having our track team win the South Dakota State Class B State
Championship in 2022 were definitely highlights.
I love to work out and to compete in any competitive organized sport.
Two words that have been instilled in me are ATTITUDE & EFFORT. We have all heard these in the past
but these are two things that I can control. Having these two words align with our actions can help us
get through any adversity that we will face in life.
Academically I currently have a 4.0 GPA and am active in Spanish Club outside of my sports activities. My
goal in college is to play on a highly competitive team at a high level, while earning a degree in a “sports-
related” field specifically in the area of sports medicine.
I feel that I am a very driven and focused young man and hope to always make a positive impact upon
those around me through my words and my actions.
