An advantage to living in a small city in the midwest is that I’ve had the opportunity to be a multi-sport athlete throughout my life. I’ve been able to learn from many different coaches and play with kids from a variety of schools and towns. One of the things that I’ve learned along the way is that while being talented is very important, it isn’t the only characteristic of a good player. Work ethic and attitude of an individual are what make the player. Every practice, whether it is for football or baseball, I strive to be the hardest worker, the most coachable, and the best teammate that I can be. One of my goals every season is to be named Team MVP, which is voted on by my teammates because it symbolizes everything I strive for.
Sometimes it can be challenging to play baseball while living in the midwest because of our shorter baseball seasons due to the weather. I have been fortunate to have supportive parents who have allowed me to do extra training and to attend camps in various places across the country in order to further develop my skills so I can pursue my dream of playing baseball at a high collegiate level. I have been able to participate in several Baseball Factory camps and tournaments, and I was recently honored to be nominated to compete as an Under Armour Pre-Season All-American in January. This past summer season, as a sophomore playing at the Junior Legion Level, I earned the Silver Slugger Award leading my team as its best offensive player. I play with a lot of energy and a will to win that no one can match. I show up each day with the goal to improve and to compete. I believe all of these qualities will help me succeed in both the classroom and on the field and will make me an asset to any team.
