Personal Statement
I fell in love with baseball from a very young age. I remember growing up and learning about the game from my papaw. It was something we could enjoy together. Along with teaching me about baseball, my papaw taught me about being a good winner and how to learn from my losses. I learned that no matter how things turn out on the field, weather good or bad; let it go and focus on the next play.
This lesson of never giving up was important in 6th grade. I tried out for the middle school team in 6th grade and did not make it. I was upset, but instead of giving up I worked really hard to get better. I tried out the next year and made the team. My 8th grade year after I was voted all-conference by the district coaches. All of my success was due to the fact that I never just quit and I always try to get better.
This experience taught me that I have the drive to be the best I can be. I know now what i have to do in order to be prepared. I workout 5 days a week at least 3 hours a day, sometimes beginning at 5 am. When I am not in the gym, I'm taking batting practice, working with my hitting instructor, and studying the game. I also realize that my performance in the classroom is even more important than my results on the field which is why I have worked hard to maintain my 4.0 gpa and I am currently ranked #1 out of 203 students in my class. I am looking for a school that will help me grow as a student, a person, and as a baseball player. I bring a strong work- ethic, character, dedication, and faith in God to your baseball program. The last one to me is the most important. Faith has helped me get as far as I have and helps me be the best I can be. You will neither find anyone who will work harder for your team nor anyone who will better represent the institution.
