Latest Showcase Report2017 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event Dec 28, 2017PG Grade: 7Derek McCarley is a 2021 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Seymour, TN who attends Seymour HS. Recorded a 7.86 second 60-yard dash time. Younger frame with a lean and projectable build. Primary lefthanded pitcher with a short and online arm action. Looseness to the arm with a fluid overall delivery. Very short rocker step into a leg lift at the belt. Lower three-quarter ar slot and gets some angle onto the fastball. Short front lever with a slight glove point. Low effort overall delivery with slurve like shape to the breaking ball. Flashed a couple of changeups with good arm side fade and similar arm speed to the fastball. Hides the ball well and it sneaks up on hitters. Repeats delivery well and attacks with fastballs. Good pitchability and will continue to improve with strength. Secondary outfielder with a lower arm stroke. Gets behind the ball well and has currently developing arm strength. Lefthanded hitter with a small stride from a wide base. High hand set with a high back elbow and has a shorter overall swing. Great student.
