Personal Statement
Hi Coach, I am Drew Hallead a rising junior in the Class of 2023, at Westwood High School (Round Rock, TX). I was born on June 28, 2004, in Austin, TX. Growing up, I played multiple sports – football, baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and hockey. However, I started focusing on baseball in 7th grade when I was recruited to play on the freshman team at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. My near-term goal is to compete at the collegiate level while earning a degree in Sports Administration, Business Management and/or Data Analytics. Longer-term, I would like to work in the sports industry.
I am currently 5'9" and 165lbs. I am a natural righty but have the ability to switch hit. My primary position in high school has been 2B but I typically play SS in summer ball. If needed, I can also play 3B and LF. In terms of the five tools, I have a plus arm with above average speed. In the field, I have good range with soft hands and a quick release. I have hit for average at every level and tend to excel with RISP. My high school, summer ball and private coaches (all of whom have played in college or the minors) believe I have the physical skills and mental make-up to play at the collegiate level. Now its up to me to prove them right.
My personal philosophy is Do The Right Thing and I am a firm believer that good things happen to good people. As for my personal traits, I am relentless in the pursuit of excellence, resilient in the face of adversity and determined not to be out worked in the classroom, in the weight room or on the field. Finally, I take far greater pride in helping a team succeed than in receiving personal accolades.
Thanks for showing interest and I look forward to seeing you on the field this summer.
