Placing 2nd at the USSSA World Series in Gulf Shores Alabama was one of the biggest highlights of my baseball career. However, I feel not making the high school baseball team my freshman year helped me grow the most as a student athlete. It taught me perseverance and motivated me to work harder and improve my skills on (and off) the field. I came back my sophomore year for tryouts where my performance improved. I ran faster, hit better and worked multiple positions as a utility player. I made the team! I learned that failure is an important part of being an athlete. It taught me to persevere, work hard, not give up and overcome obstacles.
I was raised by a single mother who was a collegiate athlete herself. She faced many obstacles in her life and taught me that giving up is not an option. She completed her B.S. and M.S. degrees and taught as a university professor while raising me on her own. She instilled a strong work ethic in me and demands commitment and performance both in the classroom and on the field/court. I scored very high (1140/1200) on my PSAT as a freshman, was enrolled in Pre-AP classes with a 3.6 weighted GPA, and participated in 3 sports at my 6A high school (basketball, Varsity track and Varsity baseball). My goals after high school are to further my education in college and to earn an opportunity to play baseball at the highest level possible. I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on the field and in the classroom!
