Sports have been my choice of religion and expression since a very young age. My parents tell stories of how I was always destined to play on a team because of my affinity for playing with balls before I was old enough to play organized sports. Playing sports is how I found joy. As I grew older, I enjoyed baseball, playing soccer, football, basketball, and even water sports such as wakeboarding. The sport I gravitated to the most was always baseball. My love for baseball began when I was four years old.
I enjoyed the sampling of sports my parents introduced me to, yet none of them did for me what baseball did for me. The sport has drastically impacted my life and has been one of my favorite teachers. The game has taught me a lot about teamwork, patience, leadership, and how to win, lose, and support others. Playing the sport has taught me that everyone has something to learn. In baseball, much like in life, success does not happen overnight. Baseball is a day-in and day-out practice that requires commitment and striving for daily continuous improvement.
Through my hard work and commitment, I have had the opportunity to be a leader for my team. I take pride in the responsibility as a teammate and enjoy supporting others. My teammates have always been my family, and a family that grows together can accomplish success together.
While I shine brighter on the field than in the classroom, I respect the importance of academic strength. My determination in school has resulted in a 3.2 GPA. I will continue to work on improving that daily.
My combined efforts on and off the field will continue to set me up for success as an adult. I aspire to one day become a Major League Baseball Player, and taking my journey to the next level one step at a time is the key to achieving that goal. I am a junior in high school, and my next step is to work towards playing at the collegiate level. I intend to continue to practice, work hard, and perform to earn the honor of achieving my next step. I want to join a team where I can learn and add value on and off the baseball field. Ultimately, my goal is to grow through baseball while paying forward to others the lessons baseball has given me.
