Personal Statement
Hello. My name is Aethan Mackey. I am in the class of 2020. I am an outfielder at Lamar High School in Houston, Texas. I also play outfield for the Houston Warriors travel club. I am very serious about my academics and strive to excel in the classroom. I do especially well in Math and Science. I am ranked in the top 8% of my high school class, and I often score in the top 1 to 4% on standardized exams (like the PSAT). I am also a Duke TIPS Student and participant. I want to obtain both engineering and business degrees. At this time, I am most interested in majoring in Biomedical Engineering in addition to receiving a degree in Finance. I am also interested in attending medical school. I am 5'10" tall and weigh 155 pounds. I am known for my ability to track balls down in the outfield, my speed, and my consistency in the batters box. At all levels, I have been approximately a .400 hitter. I love to hustle and always will try my hardest on the baseball field. I am told that I back up other positions extremely well, and I am known to go "all out" to make diving catches. I truly believe that if I am dedicated and work hard, I will reach my full potential.
