Since the moment I stepped on a baseball diamond, I have always wanted to be the best player I could be and to get to the next level. Being an Eagle Scout, I have learned to be a leader where this has helped me when I have been the captain of my teams. I am looking forward to being the team Captain of the Spring Woods High School Baseball Team this upcoming Spring year. I love to help and push my teammates to be the best players and I do this by leading by example. I listen to my coaches and strive to work harder and improve on my game everyday, and I also do this in the classroom.
I believe I have the talent, commitment, and work ethic to be a student athlete at the university level. I strive to make the best grades possible and I always take the time to help others when needed. Besides school work and baseball, I am also a member of the Boy Scout Troop 673, even though a lot of time is taken away due to athletics, I always find time to help my brother scouts. I also volunteer as umpire with a youth little league team. I love doing this because it gives me the opportunity to help younger players with their game and give advise on how to improve.
I would love to play baseball at the college level, to represent the school and to make my coaches and family proud.
Sincerely,
Matthew Gilmore
