Personal Statement
I have been playing baseball since I was four years old, and I have developed a love for the game that has only gotten stronger as I have gotten older. Baseball has given me the chance to play with some amazing athletes and learn the right way to play from some very experienced coaches. I would describe myself as a leader, extremely competitive, and an all-around fighter. Every coach I have played for has told me that I am the type of player they want on the team. I am a positive influence in the dugout, as well as on and off the field.
Some notable moments from my freshman year include, starting at first base on my high school varsity team, being awarded 1st Team All-District, as well as, All-State Honorable Mention. During the summer of my freshman year, I played for C2 Baseball, under the coaching staff of Jason Krug, Brent Kunefke, and Chris Comstock, leading the team with a .519 batting average, while ranking 2nd in on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS.
My sophomore year I led my high school team in all offensive categories while taking on much more of the pitching responsibility. We made a deep playoff run losing in the TAPPS 4A Final Four in Crosby, TX for the second straight year. I was awarded 1st Team All-District and 1st Team All-State from TAPPS as well as FBCA Varsity Baseball MVP and FBCA Male Athlete of the Year for 2018/19. During the summer of my sophomore year I played for C2 Baseball under the coaching staff of Jason Krug, Otis McAlhany and Landon Durham.
Prior to high school, I played for the 2016 Pearland Little League All-Star team that reached the Regionals in Waco, TX, one step away from the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. I led that all-star team in home runs on our exciting run.
My faith in God and maintaining good grades are both very important to me and I know that none of my success would be possible without God in my life or if I let my grades drop. When I am not on the baseball field, I enjoy church youth group events, playing basketball, and hanging out with friends and family. I was a starter on my high school varsity basketball team as a freshman, as well as, this year as a sophomore. In conclusion, I want college coaches to know that I am a solid teammate and someone that can handle criticism. I am striving everyday to better myself as an athlete and as a person.
