Jonathan Watson '20 Recruiting Profile

Baseball is my passion; I have been playing since I was 8 years old. I have played from select baseball to rec baseball to junior high and high school baseball. I have played on several different teams and with several different coaches, which has taught me how to adapt. This is why I would be a strong asset to your team.

I started out playing third, I was quickly thrown into the catching position because of my size after our catcher got hurt. After the first season of catching I started to grow a love for pitching. I worked on it day in and day out, until my coach finally put me in. The first game I ever pitched in, my coach put me in a fly or die situation and I chose to fly.

After that game I fell in love with pitching even more. Starting out in high school I was put into a catching position again. The first game I pitched was a district game, so from the get-go I had to perform at my best, and I did. My freshman year I brought my team to the final four, with a 7 inning shut out and a 7 inning 2-1 win in the area and regional game. My sophomore year I struggled but ended the season with a no hitter for the last district game and I went on to close the area games. During these 2 seasons I kept a 3.9+ GPA with no late assignments. During the summer of my sophomore year, I was performing better then my peers that I was playing with, so I was put onto a 18u select team at 16.

I feel that I have many qualities as a student athlete that I could bring to your team. I am a team player, I have mental toughness, I listen to what the coaches have to say and will change if need be, I work well with my teammates and I love to be put in a fly or die situation. 

I am looking for a school that can help me financially while allowing me to have the opportunity to play at the college level and achieve the most I can academically and athletically.
