Personal Statement
Dear Coach,
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and learn more about me! If there is one thing I would tell you about me that I hope would separate me from other potential recruits it would be DETERMINATION! First and foremost, my main goal is to get an education so that I am equipped for life after baseball. It is through hard work and determination that I will achieve my educational goals through playing College baseball! Hard work and determination define me both on and off the field. For example, I am up every weekday at 5:30AM during the school year for my fourth year now attending a seminary program for my Church. I support my family by helping take care of my little sister after school and I do some volunteer work at our local animal shelter on Saturdays when I am able. I am in the gym every weekday and I also put in time in the batting cage and/or throwing long toss or doing my band work every day. It is because of my dedication and hard work that I know I can contribute to your baseball program. My demeanor may be somewhat quiet and reserved, but I am a competitor! My true competitive nature comes out when I am on that pitchers mound with the ball in my hand. Put that ball in my hand and let me show you what I can do!
I plan to major in Business and Economics. This will be a challenging academic curriculum while playing College Baseball but I have the discipline to succeed and know how to work hard to accomplish my goals. When I was 10 years old my first pitching coach, (who was a retired College Baseball Coach) inspired the desire in me to play College baseball. He taught me about more than just baseball; he taught me to love and respect the game, to work hard, with a purpose and to stay focused and pitch with real intent! Those lessons have stuck with me and shown me that the only limits on my potential are the ones that I place there myself. Please know that I will always represent myself, my family, and my community with honor through the values that my family and my faith have taught me; to be respectful, to work hard and to return with honor so that I can be a positive representative and influence for my team and school.
Respectfully,
Kohl Drake
