Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Eden Dougherty-Wolf, and I’m currently a freshman at Decatur High school in Federal Way, WA. I’m interested in sports medicine, architecture, and other sports and design-related careers. I have a 3.6 GPA. I’d like to attend a university with an architecture program and high academic standards, and one with a baseball program that focuses on player development and not just the win.
When it comes to baseball, I primarily play 3rd and pitcher, although I’m happy anywhere in the field. I’m a power hitter and challenged myself to become a switch hitter at the beginning of the quarantine. At this point, I’m almost as strong on my left as my right. My coaches praise my smooth hands and fielding ability and usually put me 4th in the batting order.
I’m a hard worker both on and off the field. I know the work it takes to always be improving. I remember being the worst player on the team and the hard work it took to get me where I am today. I am a focused player, I don’t like taking breaks, I don’t like being lazy, and I’m always looking for ways to improve as a player and as a teammate. Baseball is a team sport, and the only way I win is if we all win.
