Personal Statement

My name is Owen Telecky, I live on a small cattle ranch/ farm in Eastern Washington with a very good work ethic and drive to get stuff done that I need to get done. I've played sports since I was a little kid, I've played football, basketball, and baseball, but  I have  enjoyed baseball  more than I did my other sports. I've always had the dream of playing baseball at a higher level and have a  strong drive and commitment to continuing to improve myself, and I am dedicated to the journey of becoming the best player and teammate I can be.   Even though I have a huge passion for baseball I know that baseball isn't always everything in life and I have my focus and values on building character and habits in my sport that will translate over to help turn me Into an inspiring leader. I truly do put all my time into school, sports, and life. I am very appreciative of the relationships I've formed and the lessons I've learned through the ups and downs of life and I would love to continue my journey of life while playing baseball in college.

  • 07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Owen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Fastball is heavy with good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.
