My name is Zachary Lutz, and I am from the small town of Hartford, Wisconsin. My primary position is a LHP, followed up by OF and occasionally 1B. Growing up as a kid, it was always somewhat of a dream to be able to play baseball at the college level, and work even harder to achieve the ultimate goal of playing Major League Baseball one day. Every day, I strive to put myself out there, and work harder than everyone else around me to create success. Not only do you see me working hard on the field, but off the field as well. Grades are a big point for me. I know that as long as I get the necessary grades that I need, the more success I'll have, and the better overall baseball I'll play. Weight training has also impacted my life tremendously in the past couple of years. In the two years since I started working out, I've seen astonishing growth on both my pitching velocity, speed, bat speed, position velocity, and overall strength.
During my time playing baseball over the years, I have been through several ups and downs. During freshman year of high school, I was able to show off my abilities on the mound, and in the field, as well as learning from the mistakes I made along the course of the season. Growing and learning from those mistakes made me work twice as hard to become a better player than I had been, and become a better overall athlete for the next season. Sophomore year was a turning-point for me. My IQ of the game rose, as well as my ability to improve on the mound; it took a huge leap from the previous season. In the summer, I had the opportunity to play for a travel baseball team, Team Heat 17U, as well as my Legion Baseball team. Our Legion team ended up moving on to the Regionals, where we won regionals, sending us to the State Tournament in Baraboo, WI. From there, myself and the team grew as a whole. Our end result was third place in the State Tournament.
In conclusion, I believe I have what it takes, both my academic and athletic abilities, to be able to play baseball at the next level.
