I'm an immigrant in this country, I was born in Cuba la Habana and I was living there for 13 years almost all my childhood; but the economy in was really bad for my families and we barely had something to eat some days. In 2013 my family was allowed to come to U.S.A where we could accomplish our dreams without someone to stop us or put a barrier in our way to the top.. After a month of being here I got back to school it was so difficult to me because of my language that kids were trying to bully me and they were always making fun of me. That made me want to quit school but with the help of my parents and my little brother I took that idea out of my mind. Everything was so difficult until i got to high school, Ms Lawry helped me a lot with my english and with my homework and thanks to her. St. Anthony was the best for me it treated me like part of a family and my friends helped me here to be successful and the whole amount of effort that I putted into my studies that I became the 10 top students of my class in Freshman year. After all this that I went through i knew if i put my will in to it I can accomplish anything and reach the top to be a successful person.
From my story I learned a lot of things, I had the opportunity to learn all this new qualities because of my struggle in school and communication with people. My vocabulary expanded a lot in the past for years, I know how to express my ideas in english and my feelings and that was one of my essential goals in my life. I want to continue my career in college and become something really special like a lawyer, dentist or software engineering.
After learning how to express in english I started to see everything different, I made a lot of friends my grades were better than half of my friends. Everything was going really good in my academics and outside of school because I was involved in voluntary work in church and food pantries. This made me strong and showed me that I can for real succeed in this new country. If I put my effort I know I can do anything.
This experience helped me get ready to college because I know that if I put my heart and mind into it I can achieve great things and accomplish all my goals and dreams. I can make my family even more proud of me and follow their steps of getting a degree and make an example for my younger brother.
