Personal Statement

My name is Braden Poirier.  I currently am a 6'2" senior and weigh 210 pounds.  I run a 5.2 second 40 yard dash.  I have played baseball for 12 years; I am currently playing Varsity Baseball and I played last year in high school on the Varsity team.  The rest of the time has been in summer leagues.  I can offer a lot to any team that  would like to have me.  I am a great leader because I will step into any role you need me to.  I work hard in everything that I do and I am dedicated to the game.  My preference of schools would include somewhere warm or on a coast.  I would be willing to go to any size school as long as the athletic program, as well as the academics, were a good fit for me.  I have not narrowed down my major yet, but I would like to do something either in the field of criminal law or medicine.  My number one goal as an athlete is to accomplish what I know I am capable of accomplishing.  Another goal that I have is to be the best off the field, because I know that I am willing to fight for my spot and earn my position.

Training

  • Badger Baseball Academy Winter Workouts
  • 2 years
  • Workouts were held on Saturdays and Sundays for an hour and a half each day. During these workouts, players had structured practices and instruction at various stations focusing on the fundamentals of baseball. Some of the stations that are included are: Inside Net Drill, Situational Hitting, Bullpen Sessions for Pitchers, Fielding Drill, Video Taping, Radar Gun Readings.
  • Edgewood College Fall Instructional Baseball League
  • 1 year
  • The ECFIBL will begin with an Instructional Camp in which all players are instructed regarding advanced hitting, position-specific techniques, baserunning, and information regarding the college baseball recruiting process and strategies to market oneself to collegiate programs. After the Instructional Camp, players will be split into a minimum of 6 teams as evenly as possible based upon ability level, age, etc. Special requests for players to be placed on same team may be made on the registration form. All requests will be accommodated to the best of our ability, but there are no guarantees. Teams will play two 7-inning games for 6 consecutive Sundays. The first five weeks will be "league play" in which teams will play two different opponents each Sunday. Once league play is complete, the teams will be seeded based upon their league play record and will compete in a single elimination tournament to determine the 2012 ECFIBL Champion. With the regular season schedule and post-season tournament, all individuals are guaranteed a minimum of 12 game contacts. All ECFIBL games will feature an official plate and base umpire. Each week will begin with an instructional lesson regarding a particular aspect of baseball to enhance the knowledge and skill set of each participant. Each lesson will be given special emphasis during that week's game contacts. Instructional lessons will be delivered by the ECFIBL league directors and coaches, all of whom are current or former collegiate players, or current collegiate or varsity-level coaches who understand theskills and knowledge needed to be successful at the most competitive levels of baseball. Examples of instructional topics include the mental side of baseball, baserunning, position-specific fielding, hitting, bunting, arm care, etc.
