Early to bed, early to decide

Are you applying Early Decision or Early Action? The deadline for schools that accept such applications usually falls around November 1 or November 15 — but the process is binding if you’re accepted.

Start preparing for the FAFSA

While you have to wait to file a FAFSA until January 1, you can get ready now. Especially since funds are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, having a profile already created and knowing all of the answers to the FAFSA worksheet will ensure you’re eligible for the maximum amount of aid possible and cover themselves in case an unforeseen circumstance arises with the family.

Sport-specific tips

  • Football (Upperclassmen): Start talking to coaches about applications to their schools
  • Football (Underclassmen): Make sure to get footage from this past season to create your highlight video
  • Soccer: Sign up for ID Camps and Showcases
  • Basketball: Make sure to come up with a game plan to properly balance conditioning, practice and school
  • Baseball and Softball (Upperclassmen): Since these are spring sports, don’t worry if you’re not signing during the early signing period
