destinee hooker knows how to dominate the volleyball court

Destinee Hooker understands how important it is to move around the volleyball court with agility, and attack with power and precision. And she showed Go Pro Workouts some of her favorite drills that got her–in addition to a spot on the University of Texas’s team–All-American and MVP titles, the title of Best Spiker in the World Cup and Olympic medals.

Here are just a few . Check out Go Pro Workouts for the complete Destinee Hooker volleyball workout.

Lateral Lunge with Plate Press

Stand tall and hold a weighted plate in both hands. Next, lunge to the left in a controlled motion. When your waist and left knee become parallel pause for one second and then raise up to the starting position. As you lunge to the side also push the weighted plate forward in front of your body. Repeat and switch sides.

Perform 2-3 sets, 5-10 reps each side.

Single Arm Kneeling Lat Pull Down

Kneel down, place your left leg forward and rest your left arm on your left knee. In your right hand pull the cable away from the machine with a palms down hold and motion the weight towards your body. When your arm reaches your back leg (thigh area) pause and return to the starting position. Keep your arm straight throughout the exercise. Repeat and switch sides.

Tip: There should be a slight forward bend in your back.

Perform 2-3 sets, 5-10 reps each side.

“Be a student, first.”

As a bonus, check out this footage Go Pro Workouts got with Destinee, where she describes what it means for her to be a pro and a student athlete.
