Now that it’s after Memorial Day, I’ve been bitten by the summer bug.

I’ve been thinking about summer workouts, and barbecue recipes, and ways parents can help their athletes this summer, all aimed at getting you through this summer more ready for the fall then ever before.

However, there’s one last thing to remind you of before school gets out and the warm weather is here to stay, especially if you want to play a spring sport in college: you need to update your spring sport highlight video ASAP.

The spring season is wrapping up, and it may feel like time to finish strong before hanging up the cleats or racquet (or shot, or glove… ;D) for a bit. But you simply can’t do it without making sure your highlight tape is where it needs to be.

Why? Here are the top three reasons student-athletes should get their spring sport highlight video together.

You’re only as good as your highlight video. Literally.

To a college coach, you’re only has good as your highlight video.

This may be all that they ever see of you in action. If you have any less-impressive footage bogging down your highlight reel, it’s time to take the time to replace it with your best most recent highlights, before a coach passes you up due to performance from years ago they’re watching today.

You still have time to make some big plays.

Summer is around the corner, but for many, spring season hasn’t wrapped yet. Challenge yourself in the days and weeks left this season to make some big plays for your team.

Do you know what this translates to? Big plays to include on your highlight tape to get out to coaches this summer.

For spring athletes, senior season is simply too late.

Depending on your sport, the early signing period can be as early as November. There’s no other way to put it: for athletes in spring sports, your senior season is simply too late. Your recruiting process will be long over with before you even begin.

While it will be just as important to play at the top of your game for other reasons, for the majority of you, your fate as a collegiate athlete will already be determined. And much of that fate depends on a good highlight tape.

You simply can’t wait.
