Personal Statement
I have been going to college football games in awe of these college cheerleaders flipping to their heart’s content or doing these amazing full arounds and have had the dream of being out there as one of them since I was 3. I knew that it was going to be super hard to be like one of them so I started putting in the work at a very young age, and I knew it, right when I set foot on the mat that I was destined to do this as my sport. I have done competitive cheer since I was 7, park cheer k-6th grade, middle school cheer, junior varsity cheer, and now varsity cheer for my 3rd year. I am also captain of the varsity cheerleading program this year, which has taught me what it takes to lead a cheer team to the top. I was selected for the UCA ALL AMERICAN and chosen by a peer who saw my leadership skills for pin it forward! I have spent the last 4 years in the gym 5 days every week, whether it was coaching a team, my team practice or even just coming in to get reps on my tumbling or stunts. I was working on my back tuck for multiple years and felt like I wasn’t going to progress anymore, but now I am proudly throwing my tuck and layout on Friday nights when our football team makes a touchdown, and still progressing and working on my full! This taught me that I have to believe in my self which has helped me grow as a leader and a coach. I have also been going to multiple college cheer camps to advertise my self as a cheerleader, working on college level stunts and confidence in my tumbling. I have the grit and dedication to turn my 3 year old dream into a reality.
