Personal Statement
Through college cheer, I want to be able to grow in my cheer career, as well as learn life-long skills that can help me both on and off the mat. As a sophomore, I am currently in my 10th season of cheer, and it has been one of the biggest, most stable parts of my life. Cheer is not only a place where I get to be myself, but it is also a place where I get to meet some of my closest friends, gain mentors in all aspects of my life, as well as gain the opportunity to learn valuable life lessons. Cheer is more than just a sport to me, it is something that I look forward to, and it is something that I learn from. I have learned to be a follower and a leader, as well as learned to become a better overall team player. Cheer also gives me an outlet for all the different types of feelings I get throughout the day. I often find myself constantly looking forward to practices where I get to be with my friends doing the thing that I love to do most. Cheer renews my energy and reminds me of all of the positive things I have in my life, even when I feel upset about various other struggles in my life, and it reminds me that there is more to me than the stress I feel at school or at home. I hope to be able to continue my cheer career through college, and continue to learn and love the sport that has been in my life for so long.
