Personal Statement
My name is Emily Montelongo, I'm 18 years old, and I'm going into my senior year at Rochelle Township High School. I have been an all star cheerleader since I was seven, but I’ve been cheering since I was four. I have cheered on levels 1 through 5 and I am currently starting my season on a Senior Level 4 all star team, as well as being on both sideline football, and sideline basketball cheer teams. I am also coaching a few of our younger rec teams in Rochelle where I coach both 5th and 7th grade. I practice 13-15 hours a week and still maintain above a 4.0 GPA while balancing my honors, AP, and Dual Credit classes which is why I was able to earn academic all honors this past season. I am flexible when it comes to stunting. I am open to flying, but I can base both main and assist and I have back spotted a little the last few years. While stunting is definitely my strong suit, my tumbling proves just as well what a hard worker I am. I am open to trying new things with tumbling and do my best with everything I do. I am in several clubs, activities, and teams in my high school including Interact, Student Council where I have been the junior class representative and am currently the senior class representative, and this past year I volunteered as a math tutor during my study hall. I also enjoy volunteering in my community with organizations like the Illinois Food Bank and Feed My Starving Children. I take pride in my leadership, but I do not let it get in the way of working with others.
