Personal Statement
Hi! My name is April Aikens!
I am the captain of the Raytown high school cheer team. I have been on varsity for 4 years and I used to cheer competitively for 5 years. I then went on to competitively dance for over 10 years. With my dance background I catch on fast to any routines and always put on a performance. When the covid-19 epidemic happened I decided to put all my focus on high school cheer. I thought about going back to all star cheer but decided not to. My main position is main baseing but i'm always happy to move around and try different positions ! We are currently with a new coach who pushes us so it was my job and the help of other captains to rebuild my team and move up to higher level stunting. Gladly I was with veterans and a new year secondary base but she caught on fast. My goal at every game is to lose my voice by yelling so much and so loud so i know i was doing my job correctly. I sadly don't have any tumbling but i'm willing to try!I love trying new stunts and trying new cheers and meeting new people. I'm a very outspoken and outgoing person and not afraid to make new friends and connections. I do get frustrated when cheers and stunts don't go right but i'm not a quitter it pushes me to keep trying. That feeling when you finally accomplish a goal is what makes me keep pushing. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me i would love to get to know you!
