Personal Statement
I recently graduated from high school in Zimbabwe and am very interested in coming to the U.S. to attend college and play field hockey
We start field hockey, played on grass, from the age of about 5. I have always had a passion for hockey, I think this originates from my love for fitnees and hard work, which hockey requires alot of!
In academics , I average a B symbol which is an average of 60-75% by Cambridge standard education, I am currently undecided reg my specific major, however i am intrested in studying nutritional science.
I am known to have a bubbly, easy going type personality and tend to get along with many people. I enjoy being around friends. My hobbies in my free time usually involve running or exercise.
While I have primarily played the center midfielder position, I am willing to play any other position which may be best for the team.
Most recently, I represented my country, Zimbabwe, at an international level, playing for the Zimbabwe National Under 18 team. I started at right link, and scored 4 goals in 4 matches. Our team won 3 out of 4 matches.
I also previously represented my country as captain of the Zimbabwe National Under 16 team which travelled to Cape town to play in the Southern African Regional Tournament. I played centre midfield and scored an average of 2 goals per game over 5 games where we won 3 and lost 2 games.
In my high school, I was the youngest player to be selected to play in the U18 tournament at age 15, again scoring an average of 2 goals a game. This tournament is an annual event which incorporates the entire Zimbabwean senior school network where 9 schools play in the Golden Girls League and another 9 play in the Silver League. My school, Peterhouse Girls School won the Golden Girls League tournament in the 2014 and 2015 season and we came in second place in the 2016 season.
I played mid field and link in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. In the 2016 season, we had a new coach who moved me to sweeper, which really changed my perspective of the game. I believe that I was a real asset to the team as my coach indicated that I had the ability to read the game and he relied on me to maintain strength in the backline.
I was a starting varsity player for my entire hockey career at both Peterhouse Girls and for the Zimbabwe National Squads.
