Personal Statement
I am a very enthusiastic dedicated sportswomen with a love for field hockey. I live in Oxfordshire, England and have been playing Field Hockey since I was 6 years old. Once I graduate from senior school, I would love to continue my hockey at a top University in the United States of America.
I have always been a keen and competitive sportswoman. Competitiveness runs through my blood. I have played, and had great success, in a wide variety of sports at high levels including Field Hockey, Netball, Tennis, Cross Country, and Athletics, in particular 800m which I competed in the English school's finals. Hockey has always been the most prominent sport in my life and in recent years I have specialised in this along with athletics which has hugely benefited my on pitch stamina.
Since the first time I arrived at Millfield School I knew it was the school for me as I could play sport to a high level as well as maintaining a balance with my academic subjects. It is one of the top sporting schools in England and I was fortunate to be offered the Headmasters Scholarship for all around ability in academics, sport, art and drama.
With Covid, the UK has essentially been shut down hockey wise since March 2020. Thankfully, Millfield provides excellent training which means I have been able to keep up with my hockey and athletics 6 days a week!
There are a few things about me that I am proud of.
• Having a December Birthday means I am age trapped so within the England player pathway I have always been young, however I have been lucky enough to be selected throughout. As a 12 year old I was selected for the under 15’s. This has meant I have had to mature quickly and be adaptable and coachable.
• I was made captain for Millfield for my age group and being invited to the leader development programme. Being a team player is very important to me and I enjoyed leading the team.
• I played at centre midfield for the Millfield 1st team and reached the final in the Y1 summer hockey regional tournament.
I think my best hockey is yet to come, I dream of becoming a professional sportswoman and hope that my hard-work and dedication will help me fulfil my goal, most importantly I want to enjoy the process. I am exploring several US universities and hope to make a trip to the US as soon as is allowed so that I can get a feel for it all first hand.
