Personal Statement

My name is Lexi Hirtzel and I am a fierce 4’10” defensive/mid field hockey player. Playing for Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, I was a starter, Team Caption and Defensive Player of the Year my freshman year. I was a starter and named to the Apple Tournament All-Tournament Team my sophomore year. My junior year I had several starts, helping my team to the #1 ranked defense plus a state championship win!

I also play for my club team Stealth, having attended several U16 and U19 tournaments including Festival, Winter Escape and NITs. I was Team Captain for the 2021 Winter Escape Tournament.

I have a 4.0 GPA taking IB and honors classes. My goal is to play field hockey for a mid to large-size DI or DII school with both athletic and academic scholarships. I am concentrating my search in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. I plan to major in biology or marine biology.

Overcoming challenges has made me the tough person I am today, including an illness that caused me to have to repeat first grade, and a scoliosis journey that led me to Philadelphia Shriners Hospital for a pioneering surgery that has allowed me to remain active in sports. Through field hockey and in the many other individual and team sports I have played, I have become stronger in body, mind, and character.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
