Personal Statement
My goal since a young age has been to be the best field hockey player that I can. I have been continually working since the 3rd grade to build and develop my skills as a player. I have played many positions but have felt that I am best suited as a midfielder. This past season my coaches have told me that I demonstrate great anticipation and interception of the ball. I am very smooth with the ball and have good stick and elimination skills. I always strive to be receptive to new techniques and feel this makes me a very coachable candidate. Demonstrating a good attitude on and off the field is an important aptitude that I maintain and will look for in a team.
As a student I am striving hard to maintain honors. I currently attend Gould Academy which is a private school located in the western mountains of Maine. My schools mission is “To prepare academically motivated students for college and help them to become independent –minded, ethical citizens who will lead lives of purpose, action, excellence, and compassion in a dynamic world.”
I have grown tremendously as a student since transferring to Gould for my freshman year. I am very active in school life taking part in as many activities as I can. I participate in a sport or extracurricular program for every trimester. Due to the percentage of boarding students at my school we tend to lead a schedule similar to a college student with classes that go into the late afternoon and required activities into the evening hours. Through this school I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel abroad to China and Ecuador. With each of these opportunities I have gained confidence that I can do great things.
Due to my school determination to make us strive for our personal best in every pursuit I feel I am a great candidate for any school.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
