Personal Statement
I have been playing field hockey since I was nine years old when I first joined the local rec team in my area. I immediately fell in love with the sport and knew it was something I wanted to continue to play and improve upon. Two years later, I joined my first club team, Baltimore Stix, and loved how fast paced it was. This year, I joined HC Alpha (formerly Stampede). Now that I'm in high school, I play for my high school field hockey team. I made the varsity team my freshman year, when we won states for the first time in over thirty years.
Last year, as a sophomore, I was a starter and one of the leading scorers in Carroll County, MD. I continue to grow as a person and player and come out of my shell as we face more difficult teams and as our season progresses. I now help with the rec teams I first started playing at, coaching new players and introducing new drills to help them better understand the game. Field hockey is a sport I genuinely enjoy, all players are inclusive and every team I have been on has supported one another as a family would. I always make sure to prioritize homework and field hockey over everything. Field hockey is something I want to continue at the college level to introduce me to new people and further improve my skills, as well as finding a major that best suits my interests, such as nursing or physical rehabilitation.
