Before I ever strapped on a goalie helmet, I was a shy girl who would have had my nose in a book all day. But around fifth grade I started to play field hockey. Then one day, the goalie could not make a tournament and the coach asked if anyone wanted to go in the cage. I said I would and from that moment I was hooked. I love everything about the sport but the best part is being part of a team. The friends that I have made will be friends for life. One thing that has been tough is that my high school does not have a hockey team. I have been working hard to try and start one. This experience has taught me to be patient and how to work through tough situations. I am fortunate that I have found a club team that plays year round.
If there's one thing I love, it's a good challenge, whether it's a tough problem in the classroom or the pressure of being in the cage in a huge game. No matter what the situation, I believe in always staying positive. I have been told that one of my strengths is that I'm very coachable. I am quick to learn and try new things. I also bring my leadership skills to the field when I am directing my defense.
I am a huge Disney fan and one of my favorite quotes is "If you can dream it, you can do it."
I hope I gave you a little insight to my personality. I am looking forward to my future in collegiate field hockey.
