Alexa Rastigue '19 Recruiting Profile

    When I was little, my parents bought me a small red ball to kick around the house to "practice" my walking skills.   Since that time, I don't think I've been without a ball of some sort any day of my life!  I have loved sports since a very early age starting soccer and T-ball when I was 3 1/2, played travel soccer and softball for many years, then entered high school where I learned to play field hockey.  To say I'm hooked on this sport is an understatement.  I was the only starting freshman on my high school team in spite of being new to the game.  What I didn't know yet with my stick skills, I knew in positioning, attacking, offence, and defense.  I have been working now for the past three years on perfecting my skills.  I love learning new moves, drills, and strategies; and I absolutely love competition!  I have been the starting center midfielder on my high school team for two years and now I have begun to play travel field hockey with Pinnacle here in Michigan.  Although I just discovered Field Hockey in high school, my other sports have certainly formed my athletic ability and I believe they have helped me to quickly pick up the game.  I am now a captain of the team and have been player of the game (as selected by the opposing coach) for nearly every game in the past two years.  

    I am also very interested in learning in the classroom as well.  I carry a 3.85 GPA with a rigorous academic schedule.  My favorite courses are Latin, English, and Physics.  My future plans include pursuing a bachelors degree in education and business as I would like to own and operate a daycare that includes teaching sports to children.

    I would very much like to pursue field hockey in college not only because I love the game, but because I love the challenge that sport gives me.  I thrive on a structured environment with sports and schoolwork.  I love being a part of a team.  I love hard work and I am willing to do all it takes to play at the next level.
