Personal Statement
Playing field hockey has taught me a lot about myself. I have grown as a person by learning to work with different people, making the best out of all situations, the importance of leadership and never giving up. Being on various teams as both a player and a leader has taught me the importance of hard work and effort to influence and encourage teammates. There is no better feeling than playing on a team that works as a unit. Teamwork directly influences growth and success on the field but also in the classroom.
Growth and success on the field and in life can’t be found without making mistakes. Mistakes naturally occur during growth and almost always occur before you find success. I have learned that mistakes are inevitable. It’s what I do after the mistake that’s most important. My goal is to always learn from, persevere through the mistake and then make a positive change. This applies to athletics as well as education. I proactively look to coaches for feedback in order to improve my play. Coaches and teachers have consistently commented on my leadership skills, positive attitude, and hard work. My goal is to learn and improve each day.
Education is very important to me. I strive for success on the field and in the classroom. I am looking for a university that will continue to challenge me academically as well as competitively on the field.
