Personal Statement
In 8th grade, I picked up my first field hockey stick. I was determined to make field hockey a sport that I not only enjoyed, but made me proud as well. I am always a hardworking individual. I practiced every day to improve my stick skills, despite being a rookie. Ever since I picked up that stick, I've had a special bond with field hockey and hope to continue what I love doing.
During my Freshman year, it was only my second year playing. I still had a lot to learn and improve upon. However, I picked new skills up easily with my strong-willed mindset and eagerness to advance. I was a starter on the Junior Varsity team with only my second year of playing. Occasionally, I stepped down to assist the Freshman team if they were low on players in a game. I was a helpful asset to the JV team with my strong track background. I always gave 100% running and in my stick skills. I played center forward and was top scorer with sixteen goals in the 2016 season.
I truly love field hockey. I look forward to my next three years at Souhegan playing for such an amazing program and an amazing group of girls. Being a skilled player is great, but I believe that what truly matters is if it makes you happy. Throughout all the goal scoring, hard practices, and even losing.... at the end of the day, field hockey still puts a smile on my face. I hope to pursue field hockey beyond the high school level, so I can keep doing what I enjoy.
Thank you!
